Good news for all fans of Frank Herbert's Dune universe. As the Norwegian publisher Funcom announced in a press release, they are now working together with Legendary Studios and Herbert Properties LLC. This will result in at least three games in the next six years, which will be set in the science fiction universe around the desert planet.

So far, it is not known exactly what kind of games these will be or when they will be released. However, one of them is supposed to be in the "open world multiplayer" genre. The development is supposed to start this year. All three titles are slated for release on both PC and consoles.

Funcom has a long history when it comes to converting well-known book series into game form. For example, they are responsible for Age of Conan and Conan Exiles, which are very popular with fans. Funcom also knows how to hold its own financially. As can be seen from the financial report for the fourth quarter of 2018, they generated 46 percent more revenue this year than they did in 2020.
