Happy Birthday, World of Warcraft, oh you online role-playing game that made a lasting impact and impression on the genre in the mid-2000s! Today, February 11, 2021, WoW is also 16 years old in Europe, as our regional servers went up on February 11, 2005. 16 years have passed since the brilliant launch of the absolute MMO top dog and even today Azeroth is still alive as ever. So all the doomsayers who conjured up the end of WoW back in 2006 weren't right. Good thing!

But our very own Zam is right, who tweeted today on WoW's birthday that World of Warcraft in Germany is now allowed to ride mopeds and drink beer. He wishes WoW all the best, and so do we! Happy Birthday, WoW! And Happy Birthday, Blizzard! Because this year the developer studio celebrates its 30th anniversary!

Do you have any memories of the launch of the European WoW servers, or were you perhaps not even in the world at the time? Which character was your first, and was he on the Horde or Alliance side? I'll be blunt and say that my first character in WoW on the European live servers was a Taurean named Anfauglith, and he enjoyed melee combat the most. And he liked to steal his pet's aggro. That's why Anfauglith was usually found dead in Andorhal, because he would steal his pet's threat so fast that dead spots didn't even have time to die down. By the way, the Taurean in the picture is Anfauglith defending Hammerfall in Arathi. With his sacrifice, he paved the way for all of today's survival hunters!
