Blizzard is set to expand the features of Tokens available in World of Warcraft this week. They will now be used to purchase items in Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm, and Overwatch, among others.

In April 2015, a special Token appeared in World of Warcraft, available for purchase with real cash or gold earned during gameplay. It allows fans of Blizzard studio's MMORPG to extend their subscription once. This week its functions are to be extended. It will be possible to exchange it for money, which will be credited to our Battle.net account. For one such item we get 12.99 euros (about 55 zlotys). Collected funds will allow you to buy packs of cards in Hearthstone, skin chests in Overwatch, new heroes in Heroes of the Storm, and even, with a little patience, a full game from the Blizzard store.

Tokens in World of Warcraft will soon cease to be only a tool to extend subscriptions or quickly collect a lot of gold

From the point of view of a person buying Tokens for real money, this is a completely unprofitable business. For one you currently have to pay 20 euros (about 85 gold). The offer is much more tempting for players who spend a lot of time in World of Warcraft and currently have a significant excess of gold. The possibility of exchanging it for cash to spend in Blizzard's online store would certainly allow them to save a bit (of course, if they are fans of other productions of this American company). Still, it's not cheap. On European servers the price of Tokens oscillates around 170 thousand gold pieces. After the latest information it can now only increase. It is worth noting at this point that once purchased this type of item does not expire and can be used or sold at any time.

Of course, there are certain limits. First, for gold in the game, users can purchase only 36 tokens for 24 months. Secondly, cash is added ONLY to your Battle.net account. In other words, it cannot be cashed out in any way, used on gadgets from the Blizzard Gear Store, or paid for when purchasing Hearthstone packs on mobile devices. Thirdly, payments using accumulated funds are not combinable with others. Fourth and finally, unless you have a special Authenticator (which you can get for $6.50 in the official Blizzard store or by downloading the free app on your phone), you will be able to store a maximum of 350 euros in your account. Is this type of system is therefore worth the effort? This question must be answered by the players themselves.
