With the start of Shadowlands, the leveling experience will be overhauled from the ground up.
Thecurrent maximum level of 120 will be lowered to 50, a new area for learning all the basic mechanics of a newly created character will be added, and the ability to choose an expansion of your choice as a leveling experience and play through its story in its entirety will be introduced.
Heirloomsand other bonuses that grant additional experience were originally intended only as an interim solution for secondary characters so they wouldn't have to spend over a hundred hours leveling up. With the revised level experience, you will also be able to reach the new maximum level more than twice as fast as before. This fixes the fundamental problem of leveling up too slowly, which means that the heirlooms are no longer necessary and using them would result in a comparatively strange gameplay experience.
Therefore, the developers want to ensure that already collected heirlooms will continue to provide unique bonuses. They plan to replace the experience bonus on these heirlooms with set bonuses:
- (2) Set: the consumption of bonus experience by the recovery level is reduced by 30%.
- (3) Set: Out-of-combat regeneration in the wilderness, instances, and battlegrounds is increased by 30%.
- (4) Set: When you gain a level, the Explosion of Knowledge effect is activated, which deals Holy damage to all nearby enemies and increases primary attribute by 40% for two minutes. If you defeat more enemies while the effect is active, the total duration is increased by up to 2 minutes.
- (6) Set: The consumption of bonus experience through the recovery level is reduced by an additional 30%.
The new set bonuses can be obtained through all heirlooms, with the exception of weapons and trinkets. Please note that the new heirloom sets are still in development and therefore subject to change.
Other items that grant bonus experience are also being revised. The "Enlightenment" bonus from the Peak of Tranquility will increase the recovery level. The "Elixir of Ancient Knowledge," "Elixir of Lightning Thinker," and the "Surplus Potion of Accelerated Learning" will be changed to gray items and will no longer be usable. The "Distillate of Ten Lands" will continue to give 10% on the experience bonus, but only up to level 50.
