In June, I first dealt with the question of how difficult the Temple of Ahn'Qiraj raid would be in WoW Classic. It was no surprise that the private server-steeled Progress guilds would slice their way through "AQ40" in record time despite a few bugs. More exciting was the question of how raids will fare, which mainly consist of players who have never faced C'Thun and Co. before or who have ventured into WoW with Classic.
My guild fits into that pattern, and in our first real ID we were able to send all nine bosses of the temple to the boards ("first real ID", because the gates of Ahn'Qiraj on Razorfen already opened on Tuesday evening and we spontaneously and by no means in our best line-up took the chance for a first trial visit, although our raid dates are actually distributed on other days).
My conclusion after the first complete cleansing of the temple: AQ40 is even easier than assumed. This becomes clear already with the first boss Skeram. He has so few health points that the fight doesn't last 90 seconds, despite the illusions that appear three times.
Thebiggest danger is the taken over players, but if they are controlled quickly and the Arcane Explosion is kicked regularly, the healers have almost nothing left to heal.
Thebeetle trio and Sartura turn out to be similarly easy
.
Sure, the fights are chaotic and quickly too careless players can perish. However, a Firewing from the Tough Luck Hoard has a lot more wipe potential. It becomes even easier with Fankriss. Pullen => drive maximum damage => looten.

WoW Classic: The more difficult bosses in the Temple of Ahn'Qiraj
Things get a little more interesting starting at Huhuran. Many a guild that wanted to simply knock down the flying beetle with no natural resistances paid a high price for it in the form of numerous spirit healer visits. With enough raid damage and healing, however, it's quite doable. The fight becomes really relaxed if you actually equip 15 people with enough Nature Resistance to take the danger out of Poison Lightning. This way, the fight only lasts a few seconds longer, but everyone lives in the end.
After Huhuran, the first major challenge awaited all raids, which caused many a wipe: the trash groups in front of the twin emperors. My guild got through the groups just fine, but there were always casualties, and my rogue had to throw in health stone and healing potion at almost every pull to get through the fights alive. There are just nasty combinations, such as Thunderclap and Meteor. In addition, the plague nibbles neatly at the health points of those affected.
The twin imperators should subsequently be the biggest challenge in WoW (buy now € 14.99 ) Classic
to date.Warlocks have to get used to their new tasks, the optimal positioning of tanks, healers and co. is decisive for the war, and medics have to keep their teammates alive for seven, eight, nine minutes for the first time. In addition, there are some bugs, for example in the aggro, which can make life difficult for the raids. It took us half a dozen attempts across IDs to send the two twins to the ground.
WoW Classic: After defeating Viscidus, we were in a party mood.

After that we went to the secret final boss of AQ40: Viscidus. The slime is the only boss in the temple for which a sufficient amount of nature resistance is mandatory. If you want to make the fight noticeably easier, pack 30+ engineers and simply bomb the little blobs away with Goblin Pioneer Charge in the first round. Without enough engineers, the fight tends to go on for two or three rounds, which is extremely taxing on the healers and necessitated countless conservation potions and elixirs of poison resistance in our attempts. After five attempts, the boss was finally down, though we only failed to knock out Viscidus on the fourth attempt thanks to a bug.
And what about C'Thun and the disgusting trash in front of the Old God? Well, the latter groups are numerous and actually quite annoying. They claim casualties quickly, and can even mean a quick wipe if you miss pulls, but they are quite doable with a concentrated approach. C'Thun itself lay in our first attempt. The pull is crucial here: If all players reach their position safely and then keep the distance of ten meters, we only have to deal with a simple "add fight". And as in all previous "add phases" in Classic boss fights, the servants in C'Thun fall so quickly that there is hardly any danger from them.
WoW Classic: The conclusion to the difficulty level of AQ40
The difficulty level in the Temple of Ahn'Qiraj varies greatly, but even the most difficult challenges are easily and quickly manageable for raids of average skill. However, AQ40 is not a no-brainer, especially in the second half. Without natural resistance (and frost weapons), it's over by Viscidus at the latest. You'll need appropriately equipped warlocks for the twin imperators. And you will have to pack more consumables than in "MC" or "BWL".
Itis a pity, however, that especially the Old God C'Thun loses a part of his legend status in Classic. Although bugs as well as tuning were to blame for the fact that he could only be put over the twin emperors 86 days after the world-first kill
inVanilla, the fact that he now lies in the first attempt is sobering.
