On my WoW Classic server, the opening of Ahn'Qiraj took longer than anticipated. The reason: many larger guilds prioritized the Scepter of Sandstorms build quest line first in order to secure one, two, maybe even three Black Qiraji armored drones. Once that goal was achieved, war supplies were farmed in large quantities and a fantastic raffle was launched that drove up the motivation for farming cloth and such across the server. In the end, if I scroll through the relevant channel in the server discord, we probably had around 25 players who were able to secure the exclusive mount.

However, the community of another Classic server placed a much greater focus on the Black Qiraji resonance crystal for the Black Qiraji armored drone

.

On the Russian realm Flamegor, there are said to be an impressive 90 Scarab Lords after the successful opening of Ahn'Qiraj (via Wowhead). One of the Classic lords had already obtained the mount in Vanilla WoW.

Of course, you can only get that many princes if you agree in advance. One player on the server reported that the guild leaders of most of the major guilds had agreed early on not to turn in any war supplies until August 12 to allow all players enough time to build the scepter. However, the supplies turned in then were not enough, and the caravan of NPCs did not leave for Silithus until August 16. This allowed some guilds to earn up to six beetles, and even some guildless players earned the mount.

It

also helped that there were two layers active on the server, so players could spread out across two versions of Silithus while farming the beetle fragments.

How about

it, how many Scarab Lords are there on your Classic realm? Have you even gotten yourselves the black beetle? Tell us in the comments!
