Do you know why, even after more than a decade, you're still walking around with the backpack your character gets at creation, and why he can't replace it with a bigger bag? Blizzard's answer is that the original backpack is too deeply embedded in WoW's game code and it's too complicated to change that. Instead, the backpack's pocket slots have been expanded over the years through actions like adding an authenticator.
This earned the WoW code a reputation as the spaghetti code - because it seems so convoluted. But if we are honest, WoW players can hardly complain about bugs these days - especially not about too serious ones. Now the engineering team of World of Warcraft (buy now 14,99 € )celebrated the one millionth change to the code. The changes are recorded since the beginning of the development of WoW Classic.
Whenever a change is made to the game code, it is tested and verified on the local computer with the developers before being saved and pushed on. In the process, each change is assigned an ID so that it can be tracked in the next patch or hotfix. More than 15 years have passed since ID 1, and the one millionth ID has now become what we know as World of Warcraft.
TheWorld of Wracraft engineering team is particularly proud of this and shared this in the official WoW forumIn
thesame breath, the development team thanks the players who have made this possible over the years and have called Azeroth their second home for over 473 billion seconds. Well then, here's to the next million!
