Update April 13, 2022: Shortly before the official unveiling of the new WoW expansion on April 19, 2022

, the rumor mill about the expansion content has become even wilder. This is because Blizzard itself seems to have accidentally blurted out the name of the expansion.

Dragonflight - the leak from Blizzard itself

Initially, there was only one name. Because at the beginning of April 2022, resourceful WoW fans had discovered a new entry for Dragonflight in the files of Blizzard's official website. This leak is strengthened by another that has made the rounds in social media: promo artwork for WoW: Dragonflight on a work table, complete with expansion logo and a picture that supposedly shows Alexstrasza and another dragon.

Original from March 8, 2022: The rumor mill around new expansions for WoW is as reliable as the sunrise. So we were able to write several articles on buffed.de in the last months, which only revolve around supposed leaks, insider info and interesting rumors around the new WoW expansion after Shadowlands. So that you know directly before the official expansion unveiling on April 19, 2022

, whether it was finally one of the leaks, we present you in this special the most prominent representatives from the land of rumors and unconfirmed info! Also read these interesting stories 4

5 million less monthly active users for Blizzard

Compared to 2020, Blizzard lost 5 million monthly active users in 2021. Activision even more than 20.And King? We take a look. 16

WoW Special: The problems with a new character class

In our WoW special, we take a look at the existing class structure and consider how WoW could survive without a new class.

What most of the supposed expansions have in common: Dragons! Many hint at a visit to the Dragon Isles and a focus on the scaly primitives of the WoW world. However, it is of course not certain that this point will automatically come true.

Ashes of Galakaros - the mega leak

Probably the biggest leak around the new expansion for WoW (buy now ) is Ashes of Galakaros. In this expansion we get, among other things, a new hero class called "Tinker", which can be active as a tank, DpS and healer. The setting will be Galakaros, which is the name of the Dragon Islands - and probably a reference to the Galapagos Islands, combined with "Galakrond". On top of that, the moon goddess Elune is supposed to play an important role, and we're also supposed to walk on the moon itself. With new mechanics like Accords (like pacts, but only cosmetic effects) and a "Living World", this expansion is supposed to excite players. Read more in our special on the Galakros leak.

Empire of Dragons - the leak with the fancy logo

Several "leaks" about the next WoW expansion talk about a class called Tinker or Mechanic - just wishful thinking or the next hero class after all? Source: Blizzard There was much less information about the alleged expansion Empire of Dragons. This one got attention mainly because of its fancy logo. In gold and purple, it not only hints at dragons, but also that this expansion might have something to do with the void. Take a look for yourself!

Dragonmire - a small promo leak

A supposed promo image for an expansion called WoW: Dragonmire also promises dragon focus, but in a different area that doesn't directly allude to the Dragon Isles. The logo looks well designed, but see for yourself in our article on Dragonmire.

Awakenings - almost certainly fake

A leak about which we have enormous doubts about its authenticity. Because the Awakenings expansion was teased alongside a prediction of Patch 9.2, which turned out to be nonsense. For instance, the leak claimed that there would be a new dungeon (Nope), the patch would be called Fate of Eternity (Nope, End of Eternity), and there would be a new PvE activity called Trials of the First Ones (also Nope). To that extent, we also doubt features like a personal airship and the mechanic class. But check out what else was in this leak for yourself!

Rise of the High Exarch, Light and Shadow, Return of the Dragon Isles & more!

One of the supposed WoW leaks even talks about a return of Yrel - many fans had grown fond of the Draenei in Warlords of Draenor. Source: Blizzard Entertainment

A number of smaller leaks have also made the rounds, which is why we have covered them together in a large special. Among them are various titles for possible expansions. These supposedly offer playable ogres, the return of the Army of Light in the story, dragon islands, blood dragons as villains, dragon aspects as pact replacements, new classes like Talonguard, Necromancer and Dragonsworn ... You see: with enough imagination, any of us can come up with an expansion. In any case, our collection article offers entertaining reading. to the start page to the gallery Jump to comments (1)
