With the upcoming patch 9.2.5, Blizzard is not only taking care of Alliance players finding more teammates again thanks to cross-faction group play, or new content thanks to Season 4

- the developers are also tackling the slightly less pretty things in WoW. For example, the upcoming update will include a new reporting system that will allow us to blacken our teammates when they ruin our gaming experience.

Until now, when reporting a player, we could only differentiate between expression, name, guild name, and cheating. The new system will be much more comprehensive and include additional categories.

New reporting system with patch 9.2.5

If you want to report a teammate in WoW Patch 9.2.5, you basically have the choice between three categories: Offensive Name, Sabotaging Gameplay and Cheating. All three categories have subcategories and the possibility to write something about the problem in a separate field.

  • Offensive name
    • Character name
    • BattleTag
    • Group name
    • Guild name
  • Sabotage gameplay
    • Hacking
    • Botting
  • Cheating
    • AFK/Non-participation
    • Intentionally Feeding
    • Blocking Team Progress

You can now specify in more detail why you want to report the player. This makes the process much easier, not only for the players, but especially for the Game Masters, because they don't have to sort out so many reports.

Especially the point Blocking Team Progress causes a lot of discussions and is, according to many players, aimed at such people who leave the Mythic-Plus-Dungeon after the first wipe and thus prevent the group from further progress. It remains to be seen whether this tool will now be abused to report every player who leaves a hopeless dungeon or whether it will actually punish players who are already out after the first wipe as a precaution.
