Until now, anyone who created a new character in World of Warcraft - depending on the chosen race - landed in a predefined starting zone to begin their adventure in the world of Azeroth. But this will change fundamentally with the upcoming expansion Shadowlands. As Wowhead reports, in addition to

the

introduction on the tutorial island, non-allied races will be able to directly select a starting zone themselves. The

highlight is as follows: You can then not only choose from all available starting areas, but also begin your hero's journey in other areas of Azeroth, in Outland, Northrend, Draenor, Pandaria or the Devastated Isles:
WoW Shadowlands gives you more freedom in your leveling experience (2) Source: Wowhead Allied races start in their respective faction capital as usual, but can then select their next level zone via the adventure journal.

However, the current alpha build still has a few problems that show that Blizzard has not yet finished developing this feature:

  • Some zones currently still require levels that are too high or have phasing issues.
  • Wrath of the Lich King's starting zones require you to fly to Dalaran without getting enough gold to do so.
  • Navigating the quests and starting zones is not done via Chromie as in the Blizzcon preview, but currently (still) using the adventure journal and the announcement boards in the main cities.

Also, there is currently no way to start in Cataclysm areas. The world map shows a level range of 30 to 35 for the Cataclysm areas. It is possible that players will be able to continue leveling in Cataclysm after completing the vanilla WoW zones. However, this may still change until Shadowlands is released - after all, this is still an alpha version of the expansion.

Nevertheless, we would like to know what you think of the new leveling feature
