With Shadowlands, the developers are taking a slightly different approach to the path towards the endgame than in previous expansions. Instead of starting the Endgame by reaching the new maximum level, you can only start in Shadowlands when you have experienced the complete story campaign. So you have to traverse all four areas and only then can you choose one of the pacts in Oribos and start the endgame. Note: This only applies to the first character. Twinks can start the endgame immediately at level 60. Of course, so that the new system doesn't feel wrong, it's important that you reach maximum level at about this time. If you had to grind dungeons after the story to reach level 60, it would be just as stupid as reaching the maximum level in the third area. For this reason, the developers are currently trying very hard to balance the experience points well.

After Blizzard had first massively increased the required experience points, only to lower them even more drastically later, they have now been increased again. From now on, you need more XP to reach the maximum level in the beta. However, the increase is significantly lower than the previous reduction.

Step range Previous XP Current XP Increase
50 to 51 177190 194030 9,5%
51 to 52 194600 212870 9,4%
52 to 53 205465 225770 9,9%
53 to 54 216600 240255 10,9%
54 to 55 228005 255180 11,9%
55 to 56 239680 272795 13,8%
56 to 57 251625 291495 15,8%
57 to 58 263840 311490 18,1%
58 to 59 276325 332165 20,2%
59 to 60 289080 353410 22,3%

Curiously, after the many decreases and increases, we are currently back at the level with which the beta started many months ago. However, a lot has happened around the areas in the meantime, which makes it difficult to compare the values. We are curious to see how many more adjustments will follow until the developers are satisfied.
