Some collectors of WoW game boxes are in mourning these days, as those responsible at Blizzard have decided to no longer release a normal version, i.e. a slim box. The only way to be able to put WoW Shadowlands on the shelf is through the Collector's Edition. And it's out of stock at online retailers, as usual.

Here is the contribution of the saddened WoW fan and Reddit user tERROR2693, who already finds it a pity that he will not be able to expand his collection.

Of course, there is a chance that some copies of the Collector's Edition will still be shipped to major retailers, such as Media Markt and Saturn; based on how high the pre-order volume was. But with the abolition of the normal box and the increasing popularity of online retailers and the digital purchase option at Blizzard, respectively, something is also dying out, which was a typical image at least in the early days of World of Warcraft (buy now 14,99 € ) at the expansion release: the queue at the midnight sale.

The midnight sale for WoW: Cataclysm [Source: buffed

]We still found some pictures of it in our archive, from the midnight sale for WoW: Cataclysm, when the people from Blizzard still organized a real event around it. And we say "Ciao, midnight sale, it was nice with you." Now that there won't be a regular box anymore, and the Collector's Editions of Shadowlands have long been pre-ordered anyway (unless you've been dawdling), the midnight sales have gone out of style. Whereas this fate of belonging to a dying breed has already been bestowed upon them in the past years anyway. Have you ever been to a midnight sale of WoW or an expansion?
